Viviane Bablin

Viviane has a thriving and varied practice in criminal defence and extradition. She was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2020 and qualified as a Solicitor in 2023.

She has defended across the spectrum of criminal offences and is experienced in representing individuals accused of the most serious and complex allegations. She is commended for her tireless efforts to obtain the best possible outcome for her clients and works closely with counsel and experts in various fields to achieve this. Viviane regularly attends the police station to represent suspects in police interviews and is known for her targeted and strategic advice. She understands the importance of pre-charge work at the investigative stage and has assisted clients obtain successful outcomes before the start of criminal proceedings. If an individual is charged with an offence, she prides herself in her robust litigation work and engages early on with the prosecution where appropriate to have the case reviewed. She is also a keen advocate and has regularly appeared in the Magistrates’ courts to defend in trials, first appearances, sentencing hearings, bail applications and legal arguments.

Viviane  has extensive experience in extradition  cases raising complex procedural issues, country specific matters such as racial discrimination and prison conditions which frequently involve allegations of violations of human rights. She has been successful in obtaining discharges both at first instance and on appeal at the High Court, and has successfully negotiated plea deals with Requesting States on behalf of her clients. She was recently invited to give a live interview on LBC news to discuss the Julian Assange extradition case and his plea deal. Viviane has also previously acted in high profile cases involving issues a regarding violations of human rights, particularly under Articles10an11ECHR.

Viviane is a dual French/British national, native in French, and speaks German at an intermediary level.
