JANES SOLICITORS’ PRESS RELEASE ON DECISION OF THE CCRC TO REFER THE CASE OF WANG YAM TO THE COURT OF APPEAL

Thursday, 28 April 2016 | Janes Solicitors

The decision of the Commission represents a breakthrough in the long pursuit of justice on behalf of our client Mr Yam. What is clear from the CCRC’s findings is that significant lapses occurred in the Crown’s disclosure process during the trial and as a result the defence were never provided with material that could have exonerated our client. It was only because of the publicity generated by the reporting of Mr Yam’s case that witnesses have since come forward and provided the evidential basis upon which the CCRC have made their decision to refer. In particular this firm would like to thank Duncan Campbell of The Guardian. At the same time we urge any further witnesses or anyone who may have information into the circumstances surrounding the tragic murder of Alan Chappelow at 9 Downshire Hill, Hampstead at the beginning of May 2006 to come forward and please contact James Mullion of Janes Solicitors as soon as possible.
