Fiona Gavriel

Fiona Gavriel is a partner at Janes and  has over 25 years experience in defending her clients in numerous large, complex, high profile and media featured cases brought by the SFO, HMRC, CPS, FCA, NCA, The Electoral Commission, Trading Standards, GMC, HRA, HCPC and the War Crimes Unit, amongst others.

Having originally trained and qualified at Janes solicitors in 2000, she returned as a partner in 2018.

Fiona has defended her clients in some of the largest, complex and high profile cases in recent history. This includes successfully defending a broker in Libor, getting an acquittal of an accountant charged in what was described as the “ largest and most complex tax fraud ever prosecuted by HMRC”, successfully dismissing torture charges connected to Charles Taylor in one of only three cases ever prosecuted in the UK under the doctrine of Universal Jurisdiction.

She also successfully represented a jockey in the Kieran Fallon race fixing trial and secured an acquittal in a recent case of large scale money laundering into Dubai where all other defendants were convicted.
Fiona enjoys personally preparing a case from the investigation stage through to trial and beyond. She represented an individual in the SFOs investigation into ENRC, personally attending SFO interviews. She also currently represents a very high profile individual who was married to Bernie Ecclestone’s daughter and is accused of £260 million money laundering allegation linked to NatWest fines.
